In her third year as a Choral Music Education Major at the University of Akron, Moriah has been involved in a wide array of musical experiences. She has participated in the school’s Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Rhythm and Roos A Cappella, and the Opera Lyric Theater program. Throughout her Akron career, she has been on the Dean’s List every semester and received prestigious Music Honors and Opera Music Honors Scholarships. Aside from musical ensembles she is the president of ACDA (American Choral Directors’ Association), the Historian of OMEA (Ohio Music Educators’ Association), and bi-annually competes with NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). As a member of NATS, she has won 2nd and 3rd place on the State level, and 2nd place at the Regional level. Outside of the University of Akron, she has been a three-year Choral Scholar in Summit Choral Society’s Masterworks Chorale and a two-year Choral Scholar at Faith United Methodist Church. Moriah has performed with professional ensembles including the Cleveland Orchestra and Akron Symphony Orchestra. This past February she performed in Carnegie Hall with an internationally auditioned group called the Young Adult Honors Choir. Most recently, she traveled to Jamaica to educate young children who do not have music classes at their schools. After this experience, she started teaching piano lessons. Her ultimate goal as she continues her studies is to develop a teaching pedagogy that encourages creativity
and fosters inspiration through musical performance.
